The Spencertown Country House Bed and Breakfast is Hudson River Valley lodging at its best resting in the foothills of the Berkshires of Columbia County. Situated on five landscaped acres in rural Columbia County, New York, Spencertown Country House is at the heart of cultural attractions in Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington, Massachusetts and Hudson Valley destinations in Kinderhook, Chatham and Hudson, NY. The warm country experience in this nine-room Berkshire lodging bed and breakfast is a welcome contrast to the hectic pace of nearby destinations and antiquing on Warren Street in Hudson, NY.
Spencertown
Country House Bed and Breakfast is a lodging
property that retains the historic charm and flavor of the nineteenth
century while embodying the modern amenities for comfortable
contemporary living. Built as a Columbia County farmhouse in 1803, this
country house was converted in the 1950’s to a
Hudson Valley inn that gained
fame in Columbia County, NY
as a site for weddings and celebrations. In 1996, sensitive renovations
transitioned the house into a bed and breakfast. Choose the period
flavor of the five “Country House” guest rooms or the country atmosphere
in the four
Carriage Barn guest rooms
(where sounds of the nearby rushing stream are heard through the open
windows). Travelers now
have a premiere Berkshire lodging choice in Columbia County, NY … the Spencertown Country House B&B. This comfortable and charming
Berkshire bed and breakfast is just minutes from the cultural and historic
attractions in New England and Hudson Valley, NY.
The Spencertown Country House makes you feel right at home
anytime. During the winter, spend hours walking along the snowy country
roads or enjoying the warmth of the fireplace parlor after skiing at
nearby Catamount or Jiminy Peak. In the spring and summer, choose your
favorite country road or marked trail for hiking or biking, but look
forward to returning to this Hudson Valley bed and breakfast for iced
tea, cookies and a well-deserved rest. The Tanglewood Music Center, a
major Berkshire attraction, is a must in July and August. Picnic on the
Tanglewood lawn as part of the experience, or picnic on the Spencertown
Country House lawn or covered porch before the concert. In the fall
when the foothills of the countryside burst
with color, have fun apple
picking at the nearby Hudson Valley farms. Antiquing is a favorite
pastime for many of the Spencertown Country House guests in any season.
Warren Street in Hudson, NY is a Mecca for antique shopping, as is Route
7 in Sheffield, Massachusetts. For history and genealogy, visit the
Columbia County Historical Society in nearby Kinderhook, where the
Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is located. Whether you visit
the Norman Rockwell Museum or the Hancock Shaker Village in Berkshire
County, Massachusetts, or the Shaker Museum and Library and Olana State Historic Site in Hudson Valley, NY you
will never drive more than 20 minutes from this Berkshire inn.
